I have had a couple of the new VW beetle and several of the old Beetles but my 2003 Turbo S was by far my favorite of all them. They were all good cars and my 2002 TDI was a great car and got great mileage but it doesn’t go very well on its top. After I rolled my TDI , I got the Turbo S. What a neat little automobile it was. I have had Corvettes, Trans-Ams, GTOs, a Hemi Cuda and a lot of other nice and high performance cars but as far as just FUN to drive, this little Turbo S is the most fun of all of them. The thing that was so fun bout this car was that it was truly quick and was fast through all the gears. Nobody expected that out of a VW Beetle. This particular car had a 1.8 liter, 20 valve, turbocharged four cylinder. It had 180 horsepower and was hooked to a six speed manual transmission. It had a 160 Mile per hour speedometer but I have no idea if it would actually do it or not. It would get to 110 mph really quick but it was so light, I would be afraid to take it much higher. It had a red line of 6500 RPM and it did 75 mph at a little less than 3000 RPM so figuratively it would do 160. My was a dark charcoal gray metallic with black and gray sports bucket seats. They were heated and leather and very comfortable. It also had an awesome stereo system with eight speakers and a 200 watt booster amp. It had a six CD deck and was really a neat little car. It got 30+ mpg on the highway. It gave a lot of the bigger higher horsepower cars all they wanted and got as lot of very surprised looks from unsuspecting supposedly high performance cars. I had to get rid of it because it was just too nice a car to be driving on a construction job. I got a pickup which doesn’t get near the gas mileage or it’s not near as much fun to drive.
